Follow the product through six decisions
| Decision point | Typical question | Record class to define |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming | Is the material/component the released identity and condition? | Receiving inspection, supplier document, lot/status record |
| In process | Did the critical layer or operation stay inside its control boundary? | Traveler, profile, measurement, visual or exception record |
| Dimensional | Does the output match drawing datums and interfaces? | Method, equipment context, measured result and disposition |
| Electrical | Does the circuit perform under the defined test condition? | Fixture/method, units, limits, raw result and release status |
| Reliability/application | Does the construction survive the agreed risk exposure? | Protocol, sample, condition, criteria and report |
| Release | Are revision, lot, results and exceptions tied together? | Final inspection, nonconformance closure, shipment evidence |
A test name is not a complete method
- Purpose and construction under test
- Applicable source, procedure and revision
- Sample preparation, fixture, datum, probe or sensor location
- Equipment identity and calibration context where relevant
- Environment, stabilization, sequence, units and calculation
- Acceptance authority, sampling, uncertainty or repeatability context
- Raw data, report, retention, redaction, exception and disposition route
Select evidence from drawing risk
A heater, resistor network, sensor track and hybrid circuit do not need the same evidence package. Begin with the functions whose failure matters to the assembly, then trace each function back to a material, geometry, process, interface and measurable output.
The control plan should distinguish routine release checks from qualification, characterization, audit and failure-analysis work. It should also state when work is owned, controlled through a partner, or supplied as customer evidence.
Ask for evidence by decision
- Name the drawing feature or risk the evidence must support
- State the method/standard if mandated, including revision and deviations
- Define sample size, conditions, units, limits and report fields
- State whether raw data, certificate, photo, traceability or retention is required
- Agree disclosure, redaction, language and delivery timing before quotation
