Abstract

A useful review does more than return a price. It converts incomplete customer inputs into a controlled list of decisions, assumptions, open risks, evidence needs, prototype checks, and quotation boundaries.

Review mandate

What must be known, decided, tested, or excluded before this design can be quoted and released responsibly?

Establish the source record

Record the customer, project, drawing/artwork identifiers and revisions, files received, intended function, quantity, timing and confidentiality boundary. Conflicting or superseded files are resolved before technical assumptions spread.

  • Drawing/artwork/schematic/BOM/sample inventory
  • Revision and source-of-truth decision
  • Contact, project, NDA and distribution boundary
  • Prototype and repeat-volume context

Translate function into review inputs

Separate required outcomes from proposed construction. Electrical, thermal, mechanical, environmental, assembly, regulatory and evidence needs become explicit fields; unknowns stay marked unknown.

  • Nominal, tolerance and worst-case functional targets
  • Interfaces and application boundary conditions
  • Acceptance method, sample, records and traceability
  • Customer-owned versus supplier-proposed decisions

Select a conditional construction route

Map substrate, functional layers, sequence, geometry, termination, protection, assembly and inspection as one compatible route. Identify which values are supported, by drawing, by application review, or require a prototype.

Make exceptions visible

A review record lists unresolved conflicts, assumptions, risk owners, evidence gaps, proposed tests and the decision needed. Silence is not approval. A high-risk unknown either blocks the quote/release or is converted into a clearly bounded evaluation stage.

  • Canonical drawing or requirement conflict
  • Material/process compatibility gap
  • Unverified capability or inspection limit
  • Safety/regulatory or final-system responsibility
  • Customer approval, sample or data needed

Issue a bounded output

The output connects the quoted construction, exclusions, open items, prototype/validation plan, acceptance basis, evidence deliverables, revision and commercial assumptions. Any later change reopens the affected technical and commercial decisions.
