Thick film heater design is different from buying a standard heating wire. The resistor pattern, insulation layer, substrate, terminal structure, mounting pressure, sensor position, and heat path determine whether the heater will reach the target temperature safely and repeatably.
Chipsimple supports custom thick film heating elements on stainless steel, ceramic, aluminum substrate, and PI/flexible bases. The right substrate depends on working temperature, mechanical structure, voltage, power density, warm-up time, corrosion exposure, and product safety requirements.
Main heater routes
| Heater route | Typical fit |
|---|---|
| Stainless steel thick film heater | Fast heating plates for kettles, coffee machines, hot water modules, sealing equipment, and industrial thermal parts. |
| Ceramic thick film heater | Insulated high-stability heater patterns for medical, analytical, sensor, and compact equipment applications. |
| Aluminum substrate thick film heater | Lightweight heating plates where heat spreading and mechanical integration are important. |
| Flexible thick film heater | Compact or curved surfaces where the heating element must follow the product shape. |
Key design checks
- Rated voltage, power, resistance, target surface temperature, and heat-up time.
- Heating area, hot-zone uniformity, sensor location, terminal style, and mounting method.
- Insulation layer, dielectric withstand, leakage current, and operating humidity.
- Thermal cycling, dry-burn risk, water or chemical exposure, and expected service life.
- Prototype validation method before moving into batch production.
How to prepare an RFQ
Send drawings, product photos, voltage, wattage, target temperature curve, substrate preference, terminal requirement, quantity, and test standard. If the heater is used in an appliance, medical device, or industrial instrument, include the housing structure and any safety certification constraints.
